AKB48 Team TP (formerly known as TPE48) is a girl group under Good Word Entertainment. They debuted on December 25, 2018 with the EP Mae Shika Mukanee.
They're the fifth international sister group of Japanese girl group AKB48.
History[]
2011-2017: TPE48[]
Due to the popularity and sales of AKB48 music and merchandise in Taiwan, it was announced in October 2011 that a group an AKB48 sister group in Taiwan would be formed. The group was initially planned to officially form sometime during the summer of 2012.
Auditions for the group opened in September of 2012, however these plans fell through.
Auditions for TPE48 were held from September 1, 2017 to October 1, 2017. It was also announced during a press conference that Abe Maria would become an official member of TPE48 along with the members who passed the audition. Abe Maria transferred to TPE48 from AKB48 Team K on November 30, 2017.
2018-present: AKB48 Team TP[]
On July 30, 2018, AKS Entertainment announced it would cancel its works with it's local subsidiary TPE48 Entertainment, and instead rebrand the group to AKB48 Team TP.
On December 25, 2018, the group debuted with their first single album, Mae Shika Mukanee.
On September 14, 2019, the group held their first anniversary concert "AKB48 Team TP 1st Anniversary Mini Concert".
On March 7, 2020, subunits Sakura, Bellflower, and Daisy debuted with the concert "AKB48 Team TP Mini Concert ～Unit Debut～".
On September 20, 2020, Team TP held their first Janken tournament to determine who would be the participating members in the song "Chance no Junban" for their upcoming 5th single. Zhou Jia-yu had won the tournament and was granted center for the song.
On May 22, 2022, the subunits Sakura, Bellflower and Daisy were dissolved and instead were replaced with Unit T and Unit P.
On September 26, 2022, the group revealed the members of their 3rd generation.
